Mask-making
For school we had to make and bring in our own masks. So for two weeks my flat was transformed into a mask-making workshop. Drawing on the experience of our classmates, we first cast our faces with plaster strips (mudrock). From that mould, we added clay to make different features, and covered it in papier mache.
After we made the masks we brought them into school where we tested them to see if they "moved" - i.e., good for performance. Masks that worked were ones that were able to convey a variety of emotions depending on the actor's body. We were asked to make modifications or make another one if ours didn't work.
Here's Elsa wearing the mask I made. I repainted it later, but the form is still there.
